I made a page for the GAL so that it’s easy for me to explain what it is, how it works, and how people can participate: GoalAlong. It outlines how this will work. At least at this point. After all, I want this to be a community and that means incredible things might grow out of it.

Here’s how far I’ve gotten on my own plans.

I’ve picked 5 focuses, although I really wanted to keep it to 4. But the reality is that I wear many hats and if I trim something I’ll probably cut something that’s important only to me. In other words, I’ll short-change myself, and this is about balance.

Focus 1: Social
overall goal: I keep saying I want to get together with people more often. This year, I will.
January: Host dinner or games night. Go to one knit night.
February: Host dinner or games night. Go to one knit night.
March:Host dinner or games night. Go to one knit night.
April: Host dinner or games night. Go to one knit night.

Focus 2: Intellectual
overall goal: read more
January: read a book
February: read a book
March: read a book
April: read a book
(bonus action to level up: audiobook per month, too!)

Focus 3: Physical:
overall goal: 145 pounds and long runs back up to 2 hours
January: track food daily, run 4X weekly
February: run 4X weekly, long run to 1:15
March: run 4X weekly, long run to 1:40
April: run 4X weekly, long run to 2:00

Focus 4: Designing
overall goal: release patterns monthly
January: publish a pattern, have next one in test knitting
February: publish a pattern, have next one in test knitting
March: publish a pattern, have next one in test knitting
April: publish a pattern, have next one in test knitting

Focus 5: Homeschooling
overall goal: pour attention and motivation into my teenager
This goal needs some thought still.
January:
February:
March:
April:

journal page of habits

I’ve also started a Habit Tracker page in my bullet journal, with habits I want to build or strengthen blocked out. It’s a way of scheduling things over the whole month and reminding myself to do them.
