The reaction to RoadBunner’s matching gnome and sweater on Instagram was clear: you love the idea of knitting gnomes to match your other FOs AND you are here for it!

You know I love knitalongs that open doors up rather than close things down, so here are the simple rules to encourage you to enjoy yourselves:

  1. Knit a matching gnome and wearable FO

Ok, it turns out we just have one rule. Let’s dig a little deeper.

✔️At least one project (i.e. wearable or gnome) needs to be finished between June 20 and Aug 31. So that means you don’t have to do both projects during the knitalong. OR even start the project… just finish. WIPs count. I want you to play, not work, this summer.

✔️Your gnome can be modified as long as I can tell you started with my pattern.

✔️What’s a wearable? Hats, tops, bras, shawls, cowls, mittens, socks, scarves, pants, etc. You know – made for humans to wear. It doesn’t have to be for you. Just a human. Give the gift of matching!

✔️You’ll need a photo with both the wearable and the gnome together to enter for prizes. Ideally, you’ll be wearing the wearable and holding the gnome because that will trigger extra-happy feelings in everyone who views your photo. But an artfully arranged flatlay photo is acceptable. As is a panicked-basement-carpet-backdrop photo. But if you gave the socks away already, you’re out of luck unless you go track them down and convince the recipient to let you have them for a moment.

✔️You can enter more than once. We aren’t about to shut the door on joy here.

But Sarah, I want to talk about matching my gnome.

SO DO I! Use #MatchMyGnome on Instagram and join us in the Ravelry discussion thread.
