Mystery Knitalong Errata/FAQ

General Mystery Tips
⭐️Where is the clue?
Ravlery:
It comes as an email from the Ravelry system. It’s a pattern update, so check your PayPal email.
It is one of the very last links in the email. Down below my name. I can’t change that – just the way the system is built. I also can’t change that the email goes to your PayPal email address.
If the pattern is not in your Ravelry Library, please follow the directions below to put it there. It makes it less likely you will have a glitch and you can also check the library directly for updates.
PayHip
You entered an email during checkout. That’s the email the system sends the updates to. Check your junk filters, and email me if you don’t get the update – please tell me the email you used if it isn’t the same one you’re sending from.
Timing
If you don’t have your update an hour or two after 9am Central Daylight Time, check your junk mail filter in the email you use for PayPal, and check your Ravelry library.
If that doesn’t work, contact me. Ideally with your PayPal email address and Ravelry Username if applicable. With both I can usually figure out the system. Ravelry glitches are most prevalent in Clue 1.
⭐️I didn’t get a PM or My pattern isn’t in my library so I can’t refresh it to get the upload.
You will only have the pattern in Ravelry if you bought it there. If you did, make sure your file is in your Ravelry library. If you weren’t logged in when you bought the pattern, the pattern wasn’t tied to your username. There are two ways to add it: either go to the purchase email and click the ‘add to library’ link at the very bottom, or go to the purchases section of your Ravelry notebook and follow the process there.
It can take an hour or so for Ravelry to roll out the updates so the system doesn’t crash. You can look in your library to see if there is an Update button and manually get the update that way.
📷How do I post photos?
First, load pictures into your Ravelry project page, then upload them into the post. (Make sure you hit enter and put the photo on its own line rather than with your text.) When you are typing a post, there are icons above the post window, one of which looks like a photo of a landscape. Click that and then choose the “use project or stash photos” option.
If you want more help with that, check out this detailed video.
📷How do I use your pictures to prevent spoilers?
Just right click (computer) or tap and hold (phone) to download any of my pictures for the KAL. Then you can use them as the first photo or two to hide a clue on Instagram or as the top photo in your Ravelry project page.
⭐️ Can I modify the gnome?
Absolutely, yes - as long as I can tell you started with this pattern, you can enter modified gnomes in the finished gnome thread for a chance to win.
Clue 1
Errata:
Due to the Tutorial links sometimes not appearing in their text box, I have removed them from the text box. Both English and German now have a Version 2. This is the only change.
3-Needle Bind Off
There is a discrepancy between the general description of the 3 needle bind off and what is listed for Piece 4. Please bind off this piece with the RS facing each other so the bind-off is to the WS.
FAQs
Confusion about Piece 1 and the 'turn work' directions
There are two places we turn our work. Here’s it spelled out for the first bit.
Row 1: BO 22 sts, k1, turn work - 2 sts
Row 2: p2, turn work, CO 24 sts - 26 sts
Row 3: BO 24 sts, k1, turn work- 2 sts
Row 4: p2, turn work, CO 26 sts - 28 sts
Maybe it should be spelled out more like that, since we don’t actually turn it after we cast on. I'll probably rewrite for the final pattern.
Clue 2
Pinhole Cast-On
Make sure that your slipknot tightens when you tug on the free end, not the working end.
Clue 3
Carrying vs Cutting Yarn
This is a comfort issue. I carried the yarns between sections, but if you are more comfortable cutting the colours, you can do that, in particular, you may enjoy the freedom of only having Yarn A to manage between Rounds 18 and Round 26.
