Another mystery gnome wants to join the fun! Gnellie doesn’t like pina coladas or getting caught in the rain. Nope. If it’s raining, Gnellie is at the coffee-shop with a good book. Her hobbies include knitting, hiking, and doing reading challenges on Instagram.
The Oh, Gnome You Didn’t pattern will feature a simple-to-knit gnome who’s got whimsical style coming out of her ears! Gnellie is ready for autumn and has details that make me smile. It’s my husband’s favourite of all my designs so far.
About 5.5” / 14cm tall, Gnellie is smaller than Gnatalie was for the first MKAL, and uses simple stitches. I’ve broken the pattern into more clues this time. We’re going to keep the surprises coming!
KEY DATES
- Saturday, Sept 7 – first clue
- Thursday, Sept 26 – last clue and FO thread is opened
- Oct 6 – last day to enter finished gnomes for a chance to win a prize
HOW IT WORKS
When you buy the pattern, you’ll be able to download a PDF with information about gauge, colour recommendations, and a detailed schedule of clue releases. There is a [chatter thread][1] leading up to the MKAL where you can ask questions and show off your colour choices.
As I release new clues, the system send out emails to your PayPal address and PMs to your Ravelry accounts to let you know there’s a new file to download.
SKILLS USED
There will be lots of help along the way – video tutorials, help in the KAL thread, and Instagram Live sessions where you can ask questions!

YARN
Have a look at my other gnomes for a sense of what they tend to look like, but rest assured that Gnellie is a design that is simple and will look great in any three colours that make you happy. More info on colours and suggestions can be found in the PreKAL info PDF.
Amounts
You’ll need 20g minis or leftovers for Colours 1, 2, and 4. You will also need about 10 yards / 9 m of Colour 3 for hands, etc.
PARTNER DYERS
The following dyers have seen the finished gnome and have put together sets of 20g minis for you to order. They’ve got great taste!
I knit my version of Gnellie using Clove Multi, Lettuce Tonal, and Marigold
Note: Anzula does not do direct sales, but they are working with Swatches Yarn Store to bring you their 5-mini packs for this project. The people at Swatches would love to help you pick a pack of minis to use. They accept phone and email orders.
