Three rows into the scrap yarn blanket, and I felt it was time to shake things up a bit. I’m not ashamed to say that I’m doing this blanket entirely in imitation of PrairieGirlDanie. Until I saw her version I was pretty uninspired about the whole join-as-you-go blanket scene. Like a concrete highway divider I could see their usefulness, but I just couldn’t see their attractiveness. So in the highest form of flattery, I am imitating Danie. That crisp black border. Oooh, la, la!

And then when she pulled out the rectangular block…mind blown. I just about lost my brain on the floor of the living room, but I caught it as it bounced and put it back in.

Oh, sweet rectangle. You were like a treat I promised myself ‘someday’. I finally stopped putting it off and made this week my someday.

What a fun thing knitting can be, that we can find such delight and anticipation in it. It’s a source of unquenchable fantasy and satisfaction.
